The ‘World Health Organization’ (WHO) has declared monkeypox a global health emergency. After which concerns are being raised that monkeypox also spreads rapidly due to sexual intercourse. On the monkeypox virus, Dr. Atul Goyal of DGHS and Director NCDC said that monkeypox spreads rapidly due to skin and skin contact and sexual contact.
Monkeypox is not spread through sex but due to these reasons
He said that there is nothing to panic about. Last time 30 cases were registered between 2022-2023, out of which 12 people came from abroad and the rest were also foreigners living in India. According to WHO, the infection spreads through rashes, pus and blood from the body or itching. This virus also spreads through saliva. This infection also spreads very fast through infection of blisters or wounds. Monkeypox can spread if you use the clothes, bed and utensils of an infected person.
Can monkeypox be spread through sex?
The disease can be spread by having sex with an infected person. The disease can be contracted by coming in contact with people who are already infected with monkeypox. However, it is not clear whether asymptomatic people can spread the disease or not.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Dr. Dhiren Gupta, Senior Consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said that monkeypox spreads during sexual contact but if the person is infected. As soon as you come to know about a person infected with monkeypox, you should keep a distance from him. Because this virus spreads rapidly. Monkeypox spreads by touching the clothes, towels, bed, utensils and hands of the infected person.
Symptoms of Monkeypox
Monkeypox is a disease similar to smallpox. Symptoms include fever, headache, rashes, muscle pain, red rashes on the skin, blisters, itching, wounds on the skin and lumps in various parts of the body. The symptoms of monkeypox can vary from person to person.
